Washington Elementary School’s after school program (ASP) through BACR is collaborating with SAFG (Scientific Adventures for Girls) to provide STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) lessons for ASP girl students, to broaden their interest in STEM fields. SAFG will join ASP on Fridays for 2 sessions (one lower grades 1-3, and one upper grades 4-6) spanning 10 weeks. Each student will receive a bag with supplies that will include materials for the 10 week session. There are 32 spots available (16 lower grade and 16 upper grade).
In order for students to participate, they must be signed up for the virtual after school program, even if they are only interested in participating on Fridays for the STEM class. Please sign up here in English and here in Spanish. The program director, Kalayla Roark, will contact you after you have filled out the form. This class will be offered in 3 sessions over the course of the school year, in 10 week increments. If they receive more than 32 interested participants, a waiting list will be created. If students fail to attend their sessions, they will be replaced by students from the waiting list. This waiting list will also serve as an interest sheet for the next 10 week session.
